Here is an email Matthew sent to his family to support his effort:
To my family,
In what may be the most healthy mid-life crisis ever, I will be running in the Pittsburgh Marathon this coming Sunday, May 1. As you may remember, my Dad ran in this marathon back in 1986 (a picture of him running the marathon is in the link below), so I have thought of him during every training run. I would like to honor his memory by using the Marathon to raise money for Clear Thoughts Foundation. If you would like to donate, the Marathon has made it really easy to fundraise – all you have to do is click the following link and you can donate on-line: https://www.crowdrise.com/mattsmarathonforclearthoughtsfoundation
Hayley and I hit everyone up a lot for CTF fundraisers, so if all of your charitable dollars have already been spent (either on CTF or one of the many other worthwhile charities that are out there), I completely understand and would just ask that you just spend a couple of minutes to think about who you can forward this e-mail to whose families have been impacted by dementia. CTF has a long-term goal of raising $1,000,000 to fund a clinical trial of dementia drug testing. In order to accomplish this goal, we really need to use the power of relationships to spread the word about CTF beyond our usual circle of friends and family. Anything that you could do to help us in that effort would be much appreciated.
Thanks, and hope that everyone is doing well,
