Dr. Lopez, MD is an internationally recognized leader in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia research. He serves as Chief of the Division of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, Director of the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), and Levidow-Pittsburgh Foundation Endowed Chair in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Disorders. He is also a Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry, and Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Lopez has led groundbreaking research focused on Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), biomarkers, and the factors that influence the progression of cognitive decline, authoring more than 500 peer-reviewed publications and helping shape national clinical practice guidelines.

As a previous member of the CTF Consortium and now serving as a Scientific Advisor, Dr. Lopez brings decades of clinical expertise and scientific leadership to CTF. His commitment to advancing innovative treatments and translating scientific discoveries into meaningful patient outcomes aligns directly with mission to accelerate breakthrough research and bring hope to individuals and families affected by dementia. His leadership helps ensure that CTF invests in the most promising, collaborative research so that we can one day see a world free of dementia.
